Welcome to the Faculty of Social Sciences, Economics & Business!

The Faculty of Social Sciences, Economics & Business (SOWI) is a center of academic and scientific research and teaching featuring a special, highly effective organizational combination of theory and hands-on practice and experience. The SOWI makes important contributions to society by addressing and solving complex social and economic issues in line with the dynamics of business and social development.

In times of globalization and international competition, academics, researchers and education build the cornerstones of prosperous economic success. The SOWI is the JKU's oldest faculty and for five decades, the educational program in social sciences, economics and business has undeniably contributed to Austria's progression as a successful location of business.

Innovative, application-oriented research and teaching help students drive advancements in diverse areas of business and society. The social components are never forgotten and remain in the forefront.

JKU offers several double degree and joint Master's degree programs, giving students a unique opportunity to spend only part of their studies in Linz and the rest at one or more partner universities abroad.

Graduates not only prepare for leadership and management roles at companies in Austrian and abroad, they conduct advanced research, provide professional business consulting services, or become influential political decision-makers.
