ARES - Aneurysm Risk Estimation Support

In the ARES project, a software tool will be created to support rupture risk assessment of cerebral aneurysms by combining clinical, morphological and hemodynamic metrics to provide an objective overview.
For this purpose, geometries are created from angiogram data and morphological metrics are calculated. Material models will be fitted using uni- and biaxial tensile tests performed on blood vessels, and fluid-structure interaction simulations will be performed, from which hemodynamic indices will be extracted. Statistical methods are used to identify significant influencing variables using a patient database.
The tool will be developed especially for the Upper Austrian neurosurgeons at the KUK, who will co-develop and evaluate it during the project and will be able to use it in their daily clinical routine after the project.
