New book on Symbolic Integration

The book edited by Michael Singer and Clemens Raab on the milestones of integration in finite terms has just appeared.

Integration in Finite Terms: Fundamental Sources

Symbolic integration is a key feature of computer algebra with a long and interesting history. In their new book, Singer and Raab have collected landmark texts that shaped the development of the area during the 20th century. The book features reprints of publications of Rosenlicht and Ritt as well as texts of Risch and Trager. Each of these works is supplemented by a section with comments on the influence they had on the development. Comment sections were contributed by Singer, Khovanskii, Raab, and Trager himself. The book thus reintroduces some of the most important historical texts of the areainto the modern computer algebra literature.
