Synthesis of resins which are suitable for selective laser sintering

   To promote the constantly growing field of 3D printing, predominantly the selective laser sintering process, some new polymers should be developed. The main focus of this project is the synthesis of some resins, which are solid at room temperature with a rather high glass transition temperature and a low viscosity. The laser induced hardening process during the printing is an additional complexity for the selection of the monomers for the polyester synthesis, which has to be kept in mind.
   The development at CTO focuses on the synthesis of polyesters with innovative monomers, as well as the characterization of these polymers. Also, some correlations between the structure and the properties of the resins should be determined.
