Postdoctoral researcher positions in the fields of machine learning for signal processing, communications, and/or sensing applications

We currently have 2 immediate job openings for postdoctoral researchers in the areas of machine learning for signal processing, communications, and/or sensing applications. The successful applicants will be part of the JKU SAL embedded Signal Processing and Machine Learning Lab (eSPML Lab), which is jointly operated by Silicon Austria Labs and the Johannes Kepler University Linz.

 

Job Duties:

  • Perform research both independently and in a team
  • Provide support and academic advising to Bachelor, Master and PhD students
  • Present your scientific results in publications at international scientific conferences and journals
  • Work on research proposals
  • Participate in administrative and organizational tasks of the hosting institutes
  • Participate in public relations activities of the JKU SAL embedded Signal Processing and Machine Learning Lab and/or the faculty

Your Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree
  • Solid background in one or more of the following areas: signal processing, communications engineering, machine learning
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written)

  • On the basis of full-time employment (40 hours/week) the minimum salary in accordance with the collective agreement is € 3.945,90.- gross per month (14 x per year, CA Job Grade: B1)

PhD positions in the fields of joint communications and sensing and signal processing for RF transceivers at the Christian Doppler Laboratory for Digitally Assisted RF Transceivers for Future Mobile Communications

We currently have 2 immediate job openings for PhD students in the areas of joint communications and sensing and signal processing for RF transceivers. The successful applicants will be part of the Christian Doppler Laboratory for Digitally Assisted RF Transceivers for Future Mobile Communications, which is hosted jointly by the Institute of Signal Processing and the Institute for Communications Engineering and RF-Systems at Johannes Kepler University Linz.
 

Job Duties:

  • Perform research both independently and in a team in the areas of joint communications and sensing and/or signal processing for RF transceivers with the goal of completing a doctorate/PhD degree in engineering
  • Present your scientific results in publications at international scientific conferences and journals
  • Participate in administrative and organizational tasks of the hosting institutes
  • Participate in public relations activities of the Christian Doppler Laboratory for Digitally Assisted RF Transceivers for Future Mobile Communication and/or the faculty

Your Qualifications:

  • Master-equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or in a closely related field of study like Computer Sciences, Mathematics or Physics
  • Solid background in one or more of the following areas: signal processing, communications engineering, RF transceivers, machine learning
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written)

Pre-doctoral Research Positions in Radar Engineering at the Institute for Communications Engineering and RF-Systems. Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria
 

The RF-Systems group of the Institute for Communications Engineering and RF-Systems at the Johannes Kepler University Linz (JKU) offers positions for pre-doctoral researchers that are to be filled as soon as possible. The research topics of our group include integrated RF circuits, passive RF components, as well as system design and signal processing for wireless sensing and localization. A strong focus is on mm-wave radar systems for automotive and industrial applications.

The projects are carried out together with industrial partners and offer the possibility of a dissertation.

Candidates should have a master-equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Mechatronics, respectively, or in a closely related field like Computer Sciences, Mathematics or Physics. The working languages are English and/or German.

Required skills:

  • Experience in at least one of the following fields:
  • RF circuits and systems
  • RF measurement techniques
  • Digital signal processing
  • Software and hardware development for DSP- and/or FPGA-based systems
  • Electronic hardware development
  • Independent and self-motivated working
  • Good IT skills
  • It is not expected that the candidate already has publications in the mentioned research areas, but this is a plus.

Job Description:

  • Carrying out research in one of the aforementioned projects
  • Publication and presentation of the scientific work in journals and at international conferences
  • Involvement in teaching and research administration
