Short biography

Julia Eder is a Research Associate (Post Doc) at the Institute of the Comprehensive Analysis of the Economy (ICAE) since July 2024. She collaborates in the research projects "Producing the mobility transition“ and F-SET. Research interest

Julia Eder's research focuses on the industrial development in Austria and in the European Union as well as on globally uneven and dependent development in the context of globalisation (e.g. challenges for catch-up industrialisation, characteristics of global production networks). She is particularly interested in the use of industrial and trade policy instruments for promoting a socially just green and digital transformation and to mitigate the effects of economic crises and geopolitical tensions. Therefore, she closely follows the current debates on strategic autonomy and competitiveness. She is particularly interested in the nexus of industry and mobility in the context of the mobility transition. Theoretically, she approaches her research topics from a politico-economic perspective, drawing on dependency school, world-systems analysis, regulation school, and materialist state theory. Methodologically, she has a qualitative focus, drawing mostly on expert interviews and discourse analysis.
