Motivation:

The aim of this bridge course is to deepen students' knowledge in basic mathematics.

Contents

The subjects are limited to the following areas that are essential for courses in the bioinformatics curriculum:

  • Probability and statistics
  • Linear algebra (matrices and linear equations)
  • Calculus (derivatives and integrals)
  • Non-linear equations and optimization

For all these subjects, we concentrate on the essentials, discussing both the basic mathematical background and computational methods. The distribution of course material, all assignments, submissions, markings, etc. are handled by means of JKU Moodle, opens an external URL in a new window.
