Our current IHaM analysis shows that rising inflation has solidified consumers' reluctance to spend since the outbreak of the Ukraine conflict - in line with the motto "the consumer climate is catastrophic - shopping behaviour remains so".

The retail sector is currently suffering doubly. On the one hand, the consumer climate is collapsing, on the other hand, rising costs are putting an additional burden on companies. This negative volume situation is compounded by low returns in the retail sector and there is no improvement in sight.
