Applications of statistical methods

The state of the art in the application of statistical methods is rapidly evolving due to the development of new methods and the ready availability of specialized software. Expert knowledge is often required to suitably analyze complex data sets and extract the most information possible. Statisticians help in the data collection process and perform visualization of data, modeling of data as well the presentation of the results. Members of the IFAS are currently working on applications in several areas of research such as social sciences, business administration, economics, and medicine.

Research projects conducted at the Institute of Applied Statistics under this research focus include different topics, including many projects with researchers from different disciplines as medicine, business administration, economics, or sociology. Thus, the institute contributes to the JKU research foci Digital Transformation and Sustainable Development: Responsible Technologies & Management.
