The JKU Young Researchers Award honors excellent scientific achievements in the field of doctoral studies. The event was cancelled last year and has now been made up for on July 1, 2021 with the honorees and some guests in the Kepler Hall of the Johannes Kepler University Linz. In the Department of Business Informatics, Dr. Manuel Mühlburger was recognized for his dissertation entitled "Recognizing It-Induced Opportunities."

The 2020 winner examined how organizations can recognize the opportunities of digitization for themselves. To do so, he identified relevant organizational and personal factors and developed approaches to support opportunities.

The jury also praised the fact that the scientific contributions highlighted not only opportunities but also hurdles on the way to outstanding research work. The prize was awarded by Prof. Helmut Pernsteiner, Dean of the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences, and Martina Mittendorfer, representing Raiffeisenlandesbank Oberösterreich. Dr. Manuel Mühlburger wrote his doctoral thesis at the Institute of Business Informatics - Information Engineering and is now working as a postdoc.

We congratulate very warmly!
