Interactive Storytelling

Since the dawn of time, storytelling has woven itself into the tapestry of humankind existence.We have been telling stories for shaping cultures, transmitting knowledge, or connecting people. From novels and films, stories have  now morphed across digital platforms in variety of forms and formats.

In this course, students will learn the fundamentals of storytelling, including narrative structure, plots and characters. They will investigate and analyse interactive storytelling in various format, media and platforms: from transmedia storytelling, interactive story games to an intelligent reporter agent. Students will be introduced to different methodologies for creating interactive stories, and look at some of the most popular tools and platforms for digital storytelling. 

Besides presenting articles and reviewing interactive stories, students will be asked to create, construct and produce interactive examples.

 

CONTENTS 

-  Examine the essential elements of inteactive storytelling

-  Develop skills in criticizing, interpreting and analysing interactive stories

-  Explore forms, formats and genres

-  Design interactive stories, storyboaring and prototyping

-  Investigate Non-fiction interactive storytelling

-  Develop knowledge of tools, platforms and Narrative visulisation
