Range of Courses.

Electrical drive technology and power electronics represent a core area of mechatronics studies at the JKU. Once the academic degree programs switched from a Diploma degree format to the the international Bachelor's and Master's system in 2007, the Mechatronics program became a three-year Bachelor's degree program and a two-year Master's degree progam.

Both programs focus on electrical drive engineering, ranging from base-knowledge topics and the design and layout of machines to chapters in modern control engineering for brushless motors. Courses in the field of power electronics cover a wide range of topics.

Key points in the program include:

  • Fundamentals
  • Application orientation
  • Scientific depth
  • Independence and ability to learn
  • Sustainability and expertise
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and strengthening one's social skill set
  • Criticism and decision-making ability
