The study of electrets and their related phenomena holds a prominent position at the intersection of fundamental scientific inquiry and technological advancement. The IEEE International Symposium on Electrets (ISE) serves as the leading event for the field, and brings together scientists, engineers, and young researchers from across the globe. Organized by the IEEE Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society, the ISE provides a unique platform for interdisciplinary exchange on the latest advancements in electret research, development, and applications.

Since ISE12 in 2005, the Bernhard Gross Memorial Lecture is presented by a person who, in the opinion of the Selection Committee has established an international reputation for sustained high quality research work in the ISE research field. In addition, the Dilip Das-Gupta awards for the best oral and poster presentation of a young scientist are awarded during the symposium.
