Vision

We investigate the spectroscopic and photochemical properties of inorganic and organometallic compounds as well as luminescent materials and systems of biological or medical relevance. In this context, our research interests are particularly focused on the functional role of metal centers in catalytic and light-dependent processes.

Mission

Current projects cover a wide range of interdisciplinary topics, aiming at photochemical conversion and storage of sunlight, synthesis and characterization of functional nanomaterials, improvement of light-emitting systems, controlled release of medically active molecules, search for environmentally friendly catalytic processes and development of artificial enzymes and model systems for photosynthesis.
