[Translate to Englisch:] Gastvortrag Hiebl

As part of the lecture series for bachelor students of the IK "Ethics - Effects of Entrepreneurial Action", Martin Hiebl, university professor at the Chair for Management Accounting and Control at the University of Siegen and guest professor at the Institute of Management Control & Consulting, on Monday, 27. March held a guest lecture on the subject of "Ethics & Management Control". The lecture referred to the close connection between ethical issues and management control.

At the beginning, Prof. Hiebl, using the Fraud Triangle, revealed that opportunity, various motivations, and subsequent rationalization drive people to act unethically. In a company in which there is a tension between the pursuit of profit and moral action, controllers are also part of this tension. Therefore, they need the ability to reflect on ethical issues, challenges and impacts in order to be able to make morally good decisions for themselves. At the end of the lecture, two case studies were presented and discussed intensively.
