The "School of Social Sciences and Humanities" officially opened at the JKU's "Circus of Knowledge" on April 17, 2023.

Grand opening

In the presence of JKU Rector Meinhard Lukas, Univ.-Prof. Helmut Pernsteiner, Dean of the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences, Univ.-Prof. Julian Reiss, head of the JKU Institute for Philosophy and Theory of Science, Elisabeth Manhal, member of the state parliament (representing Governor Thomas Stelzer), and municipal councilor Arzu Büyükkal (representing Mayor Klaus Luger), there was a ceremonial opening of the new school in the JKU Zirkus des Wissens yesterday. Around 120 invited guests experienced a diverse program in which "Society in Transformation" was viewed from an academic, philosophical and cultural perspective. A lecture on the subject of "digitization and democracy" by the German philosopher, author and former Minister of State Julian Nida-Rümelin and poems by the actress Anne Bennent as well as music rounded off the program.
