On 19.12. DI Tobias Maria Krieger was awarded the Erwin Wenzl Prize 2022 in Bildungshaus St. Magdalena by the Landeshauptmann of Upper Austria Mag. Thomas Stelzer for his master thesis with the title „Towards scalable sources of entangled photon pairs relying on GaAs quantum dots embedded in circular Bragg resonators“ which he completed in the research group of Prof. Dr. Armando Rastelli.

The idea for the Erwin Wenzl Prize was born in 1996 on the occasion of the 75th birthday of the former Landeshauptmann of Upper Austria Dr. Erwin Wenzl. The prize is an annual honor for extraordinary achievements by young Upper Austrians. The awarded categories are for students, pupils and apprenticeship graduates. This makes the prize unique, at least throughout Austria.Achievements in the most diverse fields and areas of life are awarded together, the most diverse paths in life meet and the award winners celebrate their success together.

Tobias Maria Krieger was the only Johannes Kepler University graduate among the winners of the Erwin Wenzl Main Prizes in 2022. He currently is working on his PhD studies at the Institute of Semiconductor and Solid State Physics, continuing the topic of his master thesis. In his leisure time he enjoys visiting concerts and to play drum in a rock band.
