This booklet, written by Professor Rastelli and graphically designed by his wife Nathalie, is designed for school pupils as well as interested adults, and is trying to explain in easy words the "strange world of artificial atoms". Its aim is to give a playful first insight into the exciting field of quantum physics, including many easy experiments and explanations referring to the everyday world around us.
It is actually based on the EC-project HANAS (Hybrid Artificial and Natural Atomic Systems, 2013-2016).

The project Hybrid Artificial and Natural Atomic Systems (HANAS, 2013-2016), funded by the European Union within the FP7 program, brings together complementary expertise from research groups at the Technical University Delft, Johannes Kepler University Linz, the Institute of Solid State and Materials Research Dresden, CEA Grenoble, and Max-Planck-Intitute for Quantum Optics Munich. We have poduced a video, describing the research goals of the project.
