At the virtual festival "29. Internationale Wirtschaftsfilmtage 2020", the movie "Cats, Rats and Lovebirds", written by Moritz Brehm and Martyna Grydlik, won the Silver Cup of the "Grand Prix Victoria" in the category "Technology, Research and Development" in June 2020.
The short movie Cats, Rats & Lovebirds (M. Grydlik, M. Brehm) shows a seemingly perfect double date - if it wasn't for the salt shaker, some crystal structures and the Heisenberg uncertainty principle...
Presented at the Linz film festival Crossing Europe on April 26, 2019 at 6 p.m.
28. February 2019:
Presentation and discussion for pupils about: "Quantenphysik in Nanostrukturen und Silizium Nanolaser"
Cats, Rats & Lovebirds
Premiere: Thursday, 14 June 2018, 14:00, Moviemento Linz, OK-Platz 1, 4020 Linz.
The Linz University of Arts is cooperating with Wissenstransferzentrums West to find new alternative strategies of science communication. In line with the three movies "Maybe Palermo", "Rhinospider: Eine Operation in drei Akten" and "Battery Betty", the latest production „Cats. Rats and Lovebirds“ is a new cineastic approach to natural scientific research and dedicates itself to quantum physics research on the topic "Electrically driven Ge Quantum dot lasers towards on-chip applications".
The product of this interdisciplinary cooperation between WTZ West together with Moritz Brehm and Martyna Grydlik (Institute of Semiconductor Physics, JKU Linz) and Luzi Katamay and Christian Dietl of LAS GAFAS FILMS is an intimate play between longdrinks, quantum physics and nano lasers.

This was a fantastic organization of the event, a great location and audience. Thanks!
During the course of his PhD thesis, Florian Hackl created a video about our work on quantum dot growth and embedding single quantum dots into photonic crystal cavities.
Our research was mentioned in an article about next-generation microprocessors in the E-Media an Austrian monthly magazine about digital technology.
Through the FFG-funded Projekt Sokrates (Leader: FH Kärnten) we presented our research about Silicon quantum dots and lasers in front of ~150 high school students in Carinthia. The main subject of the project was "What is Science". Link to the event.
Martyna won the second place at the European finals of the Science Slam 2016 in Hamburg (Location: Uebel & Gefährlich), Germany.
It was fun participating with great performances from Switzerland, Finland, Czech Republik and Germany
Martyna won the Final of the Austrian Science Slam on 22 April 2016 in Vienna (Bühnenzelt, Wiener Heldenplatz at Lange Nacht der Forschung 2016).
Martyna participated and won the Upper Austrian Science slam in Linz on 8 March 2016.
Great organization by Bernhard Weingartner and great location in the Posthof.

Florian Hackl made a Zombie movie shot in our Institute.
From the defect-enhanced quantum dot group Martyna Grydlik, Florian Hackl and Moritz Brehm participated.
Have fun. Here is the link!
