OA Publishing in ACM Journals

In which content can OA articles be published?
In all journals, magazines, and conference proceedings under ACM OPEN.

What types of articles will be accepted?
research articles, review articles, conference or proceedings papers, and other publication types for which an APC would be charged.

Which licenses are available?
CC-BY 4.0 (Standard) with optional extensions NC, SA or ND.

Which authors will be accepted?
Corresponding authors affiliated with JKU.

Are FWF articles covered?
Yes, for now up until the end of 2024 - license renewal will be negotiated.

How are the authors identified?
By the e-mail domain and entering the institution name.

Are there any costs or fees for authors?
No. There are no costs or fees for Open Access in ACM publications.

What is the process for authors?
Eligible authors select „Institutionally Paid Open Access“ and a corresponding CC BY license in the Acceptance in eRights form.

Note: ACM plans to move to a pure Open Access model within a few years. Articles from institutions participating in the ACM OPEN program will be made freely available by the publisher without a CC license even if all exploitation rights are transferred to the publisher.
