OA Publications in SAGE Journals

In which content can OA articles be published?
In subscription journals that have an OA publishing option (= hybrid) and Gold Open Access Journals.

What types of articles will be accepted?
Original Research Papers, Review Papers, Brief Communications, Short Reports, Case Reports

Which licenses are available?
CC-BY 4.0, CC-BY-NC 4.0

Which authors will be accepted?
Corresponding authors affiliated with the JKU at the time of acceptance.

How are the authors identified?
By the institution name (JKU) and e-mail domain on submission.

Are FWF articles covered?
Yes, up until the end of 2025.

Are there any costs or fees for authors?
No. There are no costs for Open Access in hybrid journals. A discount of 10  -20% is granted on publications in gold open access journals. Costs for this are automatically paid from the university's publication fund until the available funds are exhausted.

What is the process for authors?
The library is informed about eligible authors by the publisher and checks the eligibility. The author then receives notification of funding from SAGE via the agreement. Authors have the option to opt-out at any time.

Note: An additional fee of 400 GBP will be charged for subsequent Open Access publication of an article, which will not be covered by the library.
