In which content can OA articles be published?
In subscription journals that have an OA publishing option (= hybrid).
What types of articles will be accepted?
All types of articles aside from review articles.
Which licenses are available?
Which authors will be accepted?
Corresponding authors who are JKU employees or members of an Austrian Science Fund project at the time of publication.
How are the authors identified?
By indicating the name of the institution (JKU) and/or the name of the funding agency (Austrian Science Fund).
Are there any costs or fees for authors?
No. There is a publication fund and the author fees for Open Access publishing in IOP subscription journals are automatically paid for out of this fund until the available funds are exhausted. Depending on the number of global Open Access publications, IOP refunds a certain proportion of the subscription fees (= a so-called 'offsetting deal') in the following year.
What is the process for authors?
During the review process, eligible IOP authors will receive information via e-mail regarding their article's automatic OA placement. If the article is not to be published as an OA article, the author is required to actively opt out. The library will then agree to bear the costs.
