In his lecture on "Organizing for Sustainable Transformations", Gegenhuber presented the core research interests of the institute. Against the background of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, Gegenhuber and his team are investigating the interplay between technology and society. Central questions in the research work are:

- How do actors organize transformation processes to tackle grand challenges?
- How do actors use, leverage, and inhabit digital technologies in transformation processes?
- How do transformation processes affect inclusion and exclusion and vice versa?

Gegenhuber also discussed his role as co-organizer of the aid network for Ukrainian students at the JKU. He reported on what has happened so far and also shed light on the organization of these aid efforts from a scientific point of view.
