Educational Sciences includes the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs in Teacher Education Studies, Secondary Education (general education). The first section of the program consists of various subjects and educational subject education. In addition to an introduction to educationally cognitive thinking and content in (developmental) psychology, the education and instructional courses reflect first-hand student teaching experiences in the classroom and help students to acquire skills to prepare, conduct and evaluate lessons. The program also covers aspects of diversity and inclusion in the school system and conveys skills to evaluate and conduct sound research in social sciences.
As part of educational sciences, the program is organized in cooperation with ten universities and colleges of education in Linz and Salzburg as part of the "Cluster Mitte" association. Coordinated by a common framework concept, the educational science courses in Linz are held at the JKU, the "Pädagogische Hochschule Oberösterreich" and the "Privat Pädagogische Hochschule Linz". The close collaboration in Linz means a number of parallel courses can be offered at different times, making it easier for students to schedule classes.
