In modern production automation, each physical process can be optimized via advanced software, information and communication technologies. This is referred to as "Cyber-Physical Production System (CPPS). The hands-on tutorial (normally held during the Summer Semester) involves real-world experience in programming PLCs. During three afternoon sessions we will practice programming based on the IEC 61131-3 and IEC 61499 standards. While we recommend taking part in the lecture, a brief introduction on theory will also be held at the start of the tutorial.
