Raclette bread, mulled cider, and plastic recycling - this was the 2022 OIC "Winterfest"!

Along with our community at the LIT Open Innovation Center, we kicked off the pre-holiday season with a wonderful festival. Despite frosty temperatures, over 150 accepted the invitation and took part in the festivities!

What better way to get into the Christmas spirit than a visit to a Christmas market? This was the inspiration behind this year's OIC Winterfest and on December 1, we kicked off the Advent season with our members, transforming the OIC entrance area into a small, but magical, Christmas market.

Mulled cider, Uhudler mulled wine, and even an alcohol-free "Punsch": the Moser family, opens an external URL in a new window from Mitterkirchen provided the culinary delights! As a direct marketer, the family has won countless awards over the past few years for their delicious cider as well as other homemade products. We could taste the difference with their amazing bread topped with cream cheese and cured bacon. Those who preferred something warm could enjoy raclette cheese on their bread, along with a warm drink.

One thing you need to get into the Christmas spirit? The right music! This time our members were the DJ and filled out a joint OIC winter playlist featuring their favorite songs. Everyone enjoyed everything ranging from Frank Sinatra classics to Weezer, Pearl Jam, and John Legend!

Together with the LIT Factory, we came up with a special surprise! OIC members recycled the beverage cups sponsored by Borealis themselves during the winter festival! Together with collected plastic bottle caps, our members created their own Christmas ornaments using an injection molding process. We would like to thank LIT Prof. Jörg Fischer for sharing his many years of experience and scientific expertise on the subject of recycling plastics and doing so with enthusiasm, dedication, and humor.
