Winner of the AI School of the Year at JKU Linz's AI Program

Winner

As part of the Federal Competition for Artificial Intelligence, or BWKI, which was organized by the Austrian Society for Artificial Intelligence (ASAI) and sponsored by the Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK), an AI course was offered to high school students. At the course, students were able to acquire practical knowledge about Machine Learning and Deep Learning, the key technologies for modern AI, and put it into interactive tests. In the process, the participants from Vienna's HTL Rennweg scored by far the most points in all of Austria, earning them the title of AI School of the Year. Their computer science teacher DI Dr. Harald Zainzinger motivated the students to this remarkable achievement as part of the free subject Artificial Intelligence.

Together with the BWKI winning team of the prize "AI for Green" from HTL Spengergasse, the winners visited the poster session of the master theses of the AI study at the Johannes Kepler University Linz (JKU) on 19.01.2023.

This allowed them to get in direct contact with the students and ask questions about their research and research results. This gave the students an insight into current research and information about what development opportunities the AI program at JKU offers. It was a valuable experience for the students and a great opportunity to network, talk to professors and students and also meet representatives of ÖH-JKU. This gave the students an unusually direct and deep insight into research topics at JKU, which everyone involved found very enriching.

We would like to thank the BWKI team at ASAI, DI Dr. Bernhard Nessler,

Priv.-Doz. Dr. Bernhard Moser, Valentina Lackstätter and the organizer of the AI poster session Dr. Sebastian Lehner from the Institute for Machine Learning & LIT AI Lab for the great collaboration and we are looking forward to offering more joint events in the future in cooperation between ASAI and ELLIS Unit Linz / JKU and to give students in Austria the opportunity to develop their talents and interests in AI.
