Visitor Information

No, this is not an option on account of organizational reasons.

No, participants at the Austrian Citizen Science Conference do not need to have any type of scholarly research background or affiliation with a research institution. We welcome people of all ages and backgrounds who are interested in the conference content.

  • People who (wish to) conduct their own Citizen Science projects or conduct research about Citizen Science.
  • People working at the crossroads of science and society such as schools, museums, libraries, adult education centers)
  • People who conduct research themselves during their spare time (alone, or in a group), or who are already actively involved in Citizen Science projects
  • People who would like to learn more about Citizen Science (especially on the 3rd day of the conference where there is an opportunity to explore and try out Citizen Science projects).

 

Yes, all of the participants are required to pay the registration fee to cover the conference's organizational costs. The registration fees cover only the catering fees. Sign up by December 15, 2022.

No, there are no plans to remunerate speakers, poster presenters, or workshop / training session leaders.

Information regarding conducting a Lightning Talk

In an effort to prevent any schedule delays, please make sure you are at the correct location for the presentation a minimum of 15 minutes prior to the start of the presentation session.
 

There is an administrative person at each presentation location to assist you, especially if you have any questions or concerns.
 

Your Lightning Talk must be no longer than 15 minutes, followed by 5 minutes for Q&A. Someone from our team will be on hand to facilitate the Q&A session and to also let you know how much time you have left to speak.

Please send us your presentation by April 14 with the words "Presentation_*Your LightningTalk Title*" in the subject line.

The presentation format must be either in a PowerPoint format or a PDF fiile.

In the event of any technical difficulties and as a back up, please make sure you have an additional file on a flash drive, or in an online retrievable file at the conference.

 

Exclusively either a PDF format or a PowerPoint format.

Your Lightning Talk is scheduled for 15 minutes, followed by a 5 minute Q&A session. One of our team members will assist you in facilitating the Q&A session and will let you know how much speaking time remains.

Yes, this is an option, however please stick to the 15 minute time limit.

Yes, following the Lightening Talk, there will be 5 minute for a Q&A session in which members in the audience can ask questions.

Please be at the correct location 15 minutes prior to the start of the Lightning Talk sessions. Let us point out once again that the Lightning Talks will be held at at the same time, at two different locations so please pay close attention to the designated locations for your talk as outlined in the program.
 

In other words: Not 15 minutes before your Talk, but before the start of the corresponding session(s).
 

 

For example: If your talk is scheduled on the first day at 12:20 PM at the Open Innovation Center, please be there by 10:45 AM. In an effort to minimize schedule delays between talks, all of those holding a presentation will take part in a short technical briefing at the same time.

Information to Conduct a Workshop

On Day 1 of the conference, conference visitors will be able to sign up for the workshops they are interested in attending at the Welcome Desk.

Your scheduled workshop will take place either at the Open Innovation Center or at the Hochschulfond Building. Wo und an welchem Tag Ihr Workshop stattfinden wird sehen Sie im Check the program to see when and where your workshop is scheduled to take place.

 

There will be a person at each workshop location to assist you in case you have any questions or concerns.

Your workshop starts on the first day, as well as on the second day, at 1.30 PM and is scheduled to be no longer than 1 1/2 hours.

To prepare for your respective workshop, you can proceed to your designated space beginning at 12:30 PM or afterwards. Please make sure you are at the correct workshop location a minimum of 15 minutes before the workshop is scheduled to start.

In general, all of our rooms are outfitted with a projector and a flipchart. If you need any additional materials, please bring them yourself.

Information to Conduct a Poster Presentation

The posters should be AO size and in portrait format.

We will have 28 posters presented at the same time with enough space for everyone to hold a conversation with others.

 

The poster presentations will take place on Day 1 between 3:30 - 5:00 PM.

You can access the LIT Factory starting beginning at 3.00 PM in order to hang up your poster(s) in the space designated for you. Pins and tacks will be available for this purpose.

No, please have your poster printed at a print shop that has the capacity to print the size you need.

Yes - you have already received your assigned number.
A team member will be at the presentation site to offer assistance, show you to your designated space, and answer any questions you may have.

The poster presentations will take place at the LIT Factory located at the Open Innovation Center. When entering the foyer at the Open Innovation Center, the LIT Factory is located on the right hand side.

Information to Conduct a "CABIN Talk"

There will be a designated person at the presentation site to assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.

This short presentation will take place at 11.00 AM. Please be at the Forum (Open Innovation Center; when you walk into the foyer, down the stairs and to the left) 15 minutes beforehand and check in with the corresponding presenter there.

We will start with a short presentation in the Forum in order to briefly introduce your "BoxTalk" topic to all of the conference visitors. You will have a maximum of 1 minute (no slides).

This short presentation will take place at 11.00 AM. Please be at the Forum 15 minutes beforehand and check in with the corresponding moderator there.

Again, the presentation sequence will go according to the number you have been given.

After the presentation, please proceed to your designated Box.

Only 1-2 slides as your time is limited to 1 minute.

Information to Man a Research Kiosk

The Research Kiosk event will take place on April.21, 2023 (Day 3) between 9.00 AM - 12.30 PM at the main square (Hauptplatz) in the city center of Linz between Innovation Main Square (Pfarrgasse 3, 4020 Linz) & the information container.

There will be someone on-site at the presentation location to assist you, especially if you have any questions or concerns.

You can start getting your Research Kiosk ready on the same day, beginning at 8:00 AM.

There is an allocation plan so please refer to your assigned number. Click here to refer to this program point.

Tables will be available on-site. If you need electricity, please let us know.

Weather permitting, the Research Kiosks are scheduled to take place outdoors. In the event of bad weather, the event will take place in the Old Town Hall (Hauptplatz 1, 4020 Linz) in the city center.

You are permitted to drive to the Main Square in Linz for unloading purposes only. There is no parking available in the Main Square, however there are several underground parking garages available nearby.
