What should my thesis be about?

Ideally, you should base your thesis topic on your personal interests. In this regard, we recommend consulting with course supervisors in order to learn more about potential topics. Your thesis topic should interdisciplinary, spanning the field of economic and business analytics.

If you wish to mainly focus on economics, we recommend taking a look at the Department of Economic's research areas, opens an external URL in a new window. If you wish focus mainly on business analytics, we recommend taking a look at the JKU Business School's research projects, opens an external URL in a new window

In addition to information available at the institutes and departments, there are numerous publicly accessible databases. Some include:

Completed theses submitted during previous years are available at the JKU's Main Campus library (see: lisss.jku.at and search, i.e., for ‘masterarbeit volkswirtschaft’). These are some theses that demonstrate diverse topics:

  • Changing rules: How do increased costs of risk affect the risk taking of men and women in a competitive setting?
  • The Impact of Oil Demand and Supply Shocks on Consumer Sentiment: Its Nature and Transmission Channels
  • Intergenerational mobility across Austria: Patterns and drivers
  • The Split Health Care System of Austria - Econometric Insights into Health Care Funds
