Right from the start - and with over 650 cheering fans in attendance - the JKU took the lead at the ASKÖ Bewegungscenter in Linz, especially playing defense. Three field goals gave the Astros a 9:0 lead before the Med Uni managed to narrow the gap briefly 9:3. The game's decisive moment came about during the final quarter when running back Nils Kühn (#17) broke through the Med Uni’s defense, scoring the game’s only touchdown with a 15-yard run. The resulting extra point resulted in a final score of 16:3.

Defensive back Jan Pfaffenholz (#5) - up for this year’s Defensive Player of the Year - chalked up two interceptions, two fumble recoveries, and five tackles, making an important first down with a 20-yard rush on a fake punt.

Head coach Mike Süß is delighted with the team’s accomplishments: "The team made a major step in the right direction. This game was a big statement, especially in terms of defense. Now we just have to persevere!"

Season Prospects: Every Game Counts Now
It was the JKU Astro’s second game of the season following a narrow defeat against the TU Robots (21:24) at the start of the season. Winning this game against the Med Uni Serpents means there is once again a good chance of making the play-offs for the first time in the team's history! They still need another win, ideally during an upcoming home game against the BOKU Beez on May 4.
