2019 EDISON Award Presented to JKU Spin-Off Company

Start-up company datavisyn was presented with the special award for "digitization".

Presented to Prof. Marc Streit (Linz) and his team for the datavisyn project, the award was presented in recognition of the company’s work in interactive visual analytics platforms for complex applications in the pharmaceutical industry.

Created by Prof. Streit together with his colleague Samuel Gratzl (also JKU), Nils Gehlenborg (Harvard), and Alexander Lex (University of Utah), datavisyn recruited from the visual data science research community and the team has strong technical expertise as well as many years of experience. The successful JKU spin-off company’s specially developed platform (TDP/Phovea) gives it a major advantage over its competitors: the platform can set up and scale systems to visually analyze data with comparatively little effort. In other words, the system is not limited to a specific area such as pharmaceutical research, but allows for individual applications depending on the client's area of activity.

The award, accompanied with € 1,500 in prize money, was presented by the Economic Chamber of Upper Austrian.
