For the past 30 years, JKU business majors have been able to study controlling as a field of specialization in business administration.

Headed by Birgit Feldbauer-Durstmüller since 2005 and by Harald Stiegler before that, the institute’s celebration included a presentation by Birgit Feldbauer-Durstmüller showing a recent analysis of a controlling manager’s typical career path and just how important experience and continuity are for graduates: "There are hardly any career changers. A conventional career path is often still the norm."

In addition to a presentation of the institute’s main areas of research, there was a presentation of a new controlling textbook titled "Controlling – Aktuelle Entwicklungen und Herausforderungen". Institute organizers were pleased to welcome numerous authors in the book to the celebration.

Special guest Horst Wolfsgruber, former doctoral candidate and CFO of the Erema Group, held a particularly interesting presentation that proved to be a highlight of the evening.

Together with Birgit-Feldbauer-Durstmüller and Stefan Mayr, Ulrike Steiner, head of the HR consulting firm Schulmeister in Linz and specialist in business recruiting, presented awards to the winners of a competition for undergraduate and graduate theses, Daniel Pabinger and Bernhard Kalchmair.

A buffet reception followed and visitors enjoyed the opportunity to ‘meet and mingle’.
