What type of training classes are you in charge of and how long have you been doing it?
Lydia Hutterberger: I hold SAP user report training classes in support of financial controlling. The SAP system was introduced at public universities in Austria in 2004 and we needed to provide instructional training to be able to use the system.

What is it about exactly? Who has to learn the system?
Lydia Hutterberger: The system can check and retrieve financial information for regular and external budgets, and much more. In short, each institute, department, etc. is responsible for maintaining its books, budget, and expenditures and the SAP system helps. This can be done at any time.

Were you able to teach most everyone how to use the system or did you encounter any ‘hopeless’ cases?
Lydia Hutterberger: (laughs) I can't remember any hopeless cases. There is an SAP symbol that resembles a magic cube - I think many of those I trained will still remember that.

How will you celebrate the 1,000th training session?
Lydia Hutterberger: I probably won’t make it to that one as I only have about 18 years left until I retire.

If anyone has questions or would like learn how to use the system, who can they contact?
Lydia Hutterberger: Just contact me! You can also check: https://help.jku.at/finanzen/controlling/sap-berichtsuser-schulungen, opens an external URL in a new window

How long does an SAP reporting training course take?
Lydia Hutterberger: Usually two appointments at about three hours each.

How are the training sessions held?
Lydia Hutterberger: Since the pandemic, we have been holding training sessions via Zoom. It’s been working well so far and the feedback is good so we will be retaining this format in the future.
