On Monday, March 28, at 4:00 PM in the JKU Ceremony Room, Prof. Herbert Egger (Institute for Numerical Mathematics) opened the inaugural lecture program with his presentation titled "Numerische Mathematik @ Work", using examples to illustrate common challenges in the area of modeling, analyzing, and simulating complex physical phenomena, followed by explaining just how mathematical abstraction can be applied to find consistent descriptions to sometimes very different problems.

Prof. Tobias Kramer (Institute for Theoretical Physics) followed with his presentation titled "Strukturbildung aus Unordnung", explaining how matter flows can be formed and modeled, ranging from electron waves to the cosmos.
