Membership gives Austrian academics and scientists access to high-performance computers throughout Europe, some of which are used especially for climate research, astrophysics, materials sciences, as well as life and energy sciences.

Austria does have two high-performance computers at its disposal: the Vienna Scientific Cluster (VSC) operated by universities in Vienna and Innsbruck as well as at the technical universities in Vienna and Graz as well as the University of Natural Resources. And of course the MACH 2, a high-performance computer located at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz at the Research Institute for Symbolic Computation (RISC).

The MACH-2 computer has 1,728 processing cores and can perform up to 77.4 billion arithmetic operations per second.
