Peter Hegemann, a co-founder of optogenetics along with other researchers, will hold a presentation at the JKU on January 23, 2018.
Univ. Prof. Dr. Peter Hegemann (Institute of Biology, Experimental Biophysics, Humboldt University Berlin) will hold a presentation titled "Novel Photoreceptor Systems for Inhibitory Optogenetic Application". Optogenetics is a relatively new field of genetics and biology focusing on controlling genetically modified cells using light. Along with Gero Miesenböck (Oxford) and Karl Deisseroth (Stanford), the renowned researcher has been a potential Nobel Prize candidate for some years (Life Sciences in Medicine/Physiology or Chemistry).
