As part of the university course “Dokumentation und Medien” students will focus on the correlation between photos and memories. Mag. Markus Wurzer, Institute for Modern and Contemporary History at the JKU, remarked, “Photography lets us remember the past. An exaggerated way to say it would be you’ll forget what you don’t take a picture of.” As part the course, students will meet with older people to look at old photos and family albums. It is an opportunity for the students to become better aware of their own memories.

The “Memory Café” will take place at the Upper Austrian State Museum on March 22 under the theme ‘Photo Albums Hold Memories’. This is the first time the event is held together with a university course. After a tour of the exhibition “Zwischen den Kriegen. Oberösterreich 1918 – 1938”, students and participants will come together with their family photo albums and talk about various life memories over cake and coffee.
