Christos Stylianides, EU Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection took part in a Citizens’ Dialog session at the JKU.
Numerous guests took advantage of a unique opportunity to speak with Christos Stylianides and discuss how the EU is preparing for future challenges and what kind of help it can provide both in and outside of Europe.
The EU and its member countries are the largest providers of humanitarian aid worldwide. Last year, the EU provided over 80 countries with humanitarian aid. A large part of the funds were used to support the conflict-affected population in Syria and refugees from neighboring countries. The EU also provided aid and support for people displaced by ongoing conflicts in Afghanistan, Columbia and the Horn of Africa.
