The PHD Summer School program at the Universidad de Concepcion in Chile invited PhD students in the field of Electrical Engineering to attend various courses held by national and international researchers. Part of the program included a course titled "Optimal Design Techniques for Electromechanical Devices" taught by Prof. Bramerdorfer (JKU) from January 15-19. The course focused on research conducted at the JKU in the field of optimizing electrical machines.

Prof. Bramerdorfer added, "The invitation was sent by Prof. Tapia, a faculty member at the Universidad de Concepcion." Both researchers had previously worked together as guest editors for the journal IEEE Transaction on Industrial Electronics, opens an external URL in a new window. "Although course preparations were demanding, the external course provided many new opportunities that came up later. It's important to be open to these kinds of experiences." For example, collaborative discussions have been held with potential new cooperation partners.
