First Parent Maternity/Paternity Leave Forum at the JKU

Many JKU employees were greatly interested in the JKU’s first-ever Parent Maternity/Paternity Leave Forum.

Employees currently on maternity/paternity leave, parents-to-be, and parents of or with their small children in tow were warmly greeted and welcomed by JKU Vice-Rector Alberta Bonanni. After the opening remarks, there were presentations about current developments at the JKU, the JKU's policies and programs for families, information about paternity leave, and information about extensive continual education programs available to parents on maternity leave.

Presentations were followed by a so-called ‘Open Space’ area providing comprehensive information and advice about returning to the workplace, legal affairs before and during maternity leave, taking family sick leave, paternity leave, continual education, and childcare.

In the play area and during brunch, participants – both young and old alike – were able to come together and exchange valuable information. The event was organized by the Department of Human Resource Development, Gender & Diversity Management.
