In many countries, the hibiscus flower is a symbol of determination, perseverance, splendor and fame. These words not only describe the hibiscus; they also apply to universities. Taiwanese artist Michael Lin has given the Johannes Kepler University’s new landmark, the Somnium, an artistic coat of paint, allowing colorful flowers to blossom at exciting new heights.

Michael Lin is a Taiwanese artist currently living and working in Brussels and Taipei. Born in Tokyo in 1964 and raised in Taiwan and in the USA, Lin creates playful spatial installations as places to while the time away, contemplate, and come together.

His painting subjects are mostly traditional Taiwanese patterns which he transfers to the entire room, walls, floor, furniture, windows.
