Globalization is Hardly a New Phenomenon

Labor relations as part of global commodity chains have been around longer than you would think. A new book sheds light on the history of globalization.

A new international anthology examining labor relations in global commodity chains is now available featuring contributions from a historical perspective by researchers in a variety of disciplines. JKU scholars are among the contributors, including Karin Fischer (Institute of Sociology) with her paper titled "Global Labor and Labor Studies - Breaking the Chains", Klemens Kaps (Institute for Social and Economic History) and his paper titled "Grain, Flour, Beer, and Liquor: Commodity Chains, Labor Relations and Economic Development in Habsburg Galicia, 1772-1918", and Ernst Langthaler (also from the Institute for Social and Economic History) with his paper titled "Soy Expansions: China, the USA and Brazil in Comparison".
