According to a research ranking published by the Handelsblatt, the JKU Institute of Economics ranks 22nd among the most productive institutes in German-speaking Europe.
Prof. Winter-Ebmer, department head, was ranked among the top 100 economists and ranks 4th in Austria. Among the category of researchers under 40, Martin Halla (head of the JKU Department for Economic Policy) ranks at 38. In German-speaking countries he ranks at 21 and has the number 1 spot in Austria. In the overall ranking, Jochen Güntner and Matthias Fahn rank 110 and 130 respectively, and at spots 8 and 10 respectively in Austria.
Friedrich Schneider, professor emeritus at the institute, ranks 29th in lieu of his life's work. Taking researchers in German-speaking countries into account, he ranks at no. 18 and at no. 1 in Austria.
The list was compiled by ETH Zurich and DICE (University of Düsseldorf) in cooperation with the "Verein für Socialpolitik".
