Real-world experience not only fosters an understanding of academic theory, but hands-on experience can also serve as a significant advantage in the job market. The JKU wants to encourage students to acquire this type of experience by offering an opportunity to earn academic credit for their work experience.

Students at JKU have until April 27 to sign up for a new academic course titled: “Studienbezogene Praxiserfahrung (Study-Related Work Experience” (Course No. 700300, opens an external URL in a new window), opens an external URL in a new window. The course is open to all JKU students who can show they have study-related work experience (a minimum of 75 working hours) during the current semester (or the prior semester), either by means of a professional internship or a part-time job. By reflecting on their job responsibilities, students can focus more intensively on applying what they have learned in the classroom to real-world situations in the workplace. After successfully completing the course, students can earn 3 ECTS credits to count toward autonomous course work requirements (as outlined in the students’ respective curriculum).
