The Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research annually honors 40 of Austria’s best dissertations by presenting them with a State Award. The prize is accompanied with € 3,000 in prize money. The JKU is pleased to celebrate a triple success.

Hubert Rams (Institute of Automatic Control and Control Systems Technology) was honored for his dissertation titled "Contributions to the Analysis and Control of Higher-Order Infinite-Dimensional Systems" (supervised by Prof. Markus Schöberl).

Aitziber Iturmendi (Institute of Polymer Chemistry) was presented with an award for developing synthetic polymers based on phosphorus and nitrogen atoms. Valuable for medical applications, these polymers are stable in normal environments but dissolve quickly when coming in contact with mild biological stimuli.

Peter Bräumann (Digital Transformation and Law Lab at LIT) a Sub Auspiciis graduate at the JKU this past year, received the award for his dissertation focusing on the analysis of taxing research and innovation at Austrian companies. He also discussed the legal consequences the tax environment has when it comes to operational decisions.
