Prof. Stadlmeier is head of the Institute for International Law, Aviation Law and International Relations at the JKU. In addition, the legal expert holds an army rank of lieutenant-colonel and has served as a legal military advisor to the armed forces for some time.

As one of the world’s oldest, continuously operating military academies, they will now draw on Prof. Stadlmeier’s expertise. Founded in 1752, the Theresian Military Academy also takes part in a student exchange program similar to the ERASMUS program called the European Initiative for the Exchange of Military Young Officers. Part of the curriculum includes modules such as Law of Armed Conflict, Common Security and Defense Policy of the EU, Crisis Management Operations, and Peace Support Operations. Prof. Stadlmeier has been teaching at the renowned academy on a case-by-case basis since 2010 and remarked: "As our institute is both involved and strongly committed to these exact areas in education and research - especially through articles in the Austrian Military Journal - educators at TherMilAk approached me and asked me to take part."
