A Statement by the JKU on Recent Media Reports Regarding the IDSA Start-Up Process

The JKU sent out a press release today regarding recent media reports related to the establishment of the IDSA.

"The Johannes Kepler University Linz would like to make it clear: At present, the JKU is not partnered with the Institute of Digital Sciences Austria (IDSA) and therefore also not a part of the IDSA and Ar Electronica’s "Founding Lab" project. However, the ongoing development of the region as a university location is important to the JKU. Bearing this in mind, the JKU remains open to constructive discussions at any time.

The ISDA’s ongoing start-up process and all associated decisions are a matter for the IDSA. The JKU will not comment on the process.

In the field of Artificial Intelligence, the JKU has a pioneering role, thanks to significant funding provided by the state of Upper Austria. In regard to current research at the JKU’s Institute for Machine Learning and the LIT AI Lab regarding a new chatbot technology, the JKU is currently engaging in productive discussions with Florian Tursky, the state secretary responsible for digitalization and telecommunications."
