Lead Project in Medical Technology

A research project at the Kepler University Hospital will be the Upper Austrian government’s “Lead Project in Medical Technology”.

A neurosurgical research project endowed with 2.3 million euros will be the Upper Austrian government’s “Lead Project in Medical Technology”. The Johannes Kepler University Linz would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Univ. Prof. Dr. Andreas Gruber and his team on their success.

The project titled “Medical EDUcation in Surgical Aneurysm Clipping (MEDUSA)” was one of four submissions in response to a call published by the Upper Austrian government and was selected. MEDUSA was developed by consortium that includes RISC Software Ltd – Unit Medical Informatics (consortium leader), the Department of Neurosurgery at the Kepler University Hospital, FH-OÖ Research and Development Ltd – research groups ReSSL, Johannes Kepler University – Institute of Polymer Product Engineering (IPPE), JKU – Institute for Polymer Engineering (IPW), AMC alpha medical concepts e.U., CortEXplore Ltd., EVO-tech Ltd., LIFEtool Ltd., eulerian solutions e.U., Netural Ltd.,Profactor Ltd. and R’n’B Medical Software Consulting Ltd.

An international jury of experts selected the project for its innovative training and planning platform for neurosurgeons. The project aims to closely link patient care, teach and research in order to increase the quality of patient care.

The Kepler University Hospital congratulated Univ. Prof. Dr. Andreas Gruber and his research team on their success. Mag. Dr. Elgin Drda and Dr. Heinz Brock remarked, “We are very happy for Univ.
