Presentations to Appoint a Professor for "Computational Data Analytics"

The JKU has been accepting applications for a professorship in "Computational Data Analytics". Four candidates have been selected and will hold presentations about their respective research fields.

Ansgar Scherp from the University of Stirling (Scotland, Great Britain) will kick-off the presentation series on Wednesday, November 7 (Uni Center, 8:30 AM) with a presentation titled "Extreme Analysen auf Texten und Graphen". Among other topics, he will talk about eXtreme multi-label classification (XMLK) for very large document corpora and recommendations for scientific publications and citations as well as analyzing open data on the web.

The presentations continue on Friday, November 9 at 8:30 AM and 9:30 AM respectively. Christoph Trattner (University of Bergen, Norway) will begin with his presentation titled "Computational Data Analytics on the Web for Healthier Food Decision Making". He discusses current data analytical research findings that lead to a better understanding and more accurate predictions in the way people make decisions regarding certain foods.

Johannes Fürnkranz from the Technical University in Darmstadt (Germany) will follow Christoph Trattner with a presentation titled "Shorter Rules are Better, Aren't They?", taking a different stance to the conventional view that shorter instructions are better than longer ones.

The series will conclude on Friday, November 16, 8.30 AM, Uni Center, with a presentation by Christin Seifert (University of Twente, Netherlands) titled "User-Centric Data Analysis". Her presentation will focus on the current issue of how to process and sift information for all intentions and purposes out of increasingly massive amounts of data.
