Radiant Winners at the “Biber-der-Informatik” Competition

130 girls and boys were honored at the JKU for their outstanding work in computer science.

The annual “Biber-der-Informatik” computer science competition for kids drew great interest. The 2018 competition attracted over 33,000 participants and at a recent ceremony at the JKU, the Austrian Computer Society (OCG) honored the ‘best of the best’ from the 2018 "Biber-der-Informatik" competition. Over 130 radiant winners from throughout Austria between the ages of 8 – 19 (starting in the third class at elementary school to the 13th class) were in Linz and were presented with great prizes. Participants also received a certificate as well as a t-shirt bearing a beaver, the online competition’s mascot.

JKU Vice-Rector Alexander Egyed, Alfred Klampfer (Director of Education for Upper Austria), and Univ. Prof. Hans Peter Mössenbock (head of the Institute for System Software at the JKU) also congratulated the winners. VR Egyed added, “Computer Science is a degree of the future – you can’t go wrong.”
